Multan Welfare Society

The formation of the Multan Welfare Society at Haridwar, a holy bath in the Ganges, was a curious coincidence. Some prominent members of our community used to attend an annual feast in Haridwar. This feast was organized by Mr. Udhodas Dureja, a resident of Delhi, in memory of Swami Dharamdas Ji at Baba Atma Prakash Ji's Dharamshala, Akhanddham.

For the Community and Welfare

These founding members and other community members met informally in Delhi on October 24, 1980, and decided to hold a formal community meeting on November 2, 1980, to give a proper format to this community organization and to outline its functions and activities. As decided, the community met for a general meeting on November 2, 1980, at the D.S.T.A. office in Karol Bagh, New Delhi. This organization was initially formed into a society and named the “Multan Welfare Society,” as most of our community had migrated from the Multan region. An “ad hoc committee” of seven members assumed charge to ensure swift commencement of work.
Our dedicated volunteers and supporters help us reach thousands of beneficiaries every year by delivering impactful programs that strengthen communities and inspire hope.

About Us

Multan Welfare Society

The formation of the Multan Welfare Society at Haridwar, a holy bath in the Ganges, was a curious coincidence. Some prominent members of our community used to attend an annual feast in Haridwar. This feast was organized by Mr. Udhodas Dureja, a resident of Delhi, in memory of Swami Dharamdas Ji at Baba Atma Prakash Ji's Dharamshala, Akhanddham. During the 1980 feast, the administrators of this Dharamshala mistreated and insulted the self-respect of respected members of our community: Mr. Udhodas Dureja (Delhi), Mr. Harbans Lal Rajpal (Karnal), Mr. Harichand Nangru (Panipat), Mr. Wazirchand Kakkar (Shahbad), Mr. Chamanlal Kataria (Delhi), Mr. Radheshyam Kataria (Delhi), and other prominent members. This event awakened a new consciousness in the hearts and minds of the community members present, and those few noblemen began to dream of having their own Dharamshala or building built by the community right there in Haridwar. All the members returned to their cities with this dream, with the idea of meeting again.
